The Birthday Board
Role: The Birthday Board will coordinate the successful yearlong celebration of Mesa Verde's 2006 Centennial through commitment, communication, support and decision-making with park and community-based Action Groups. Functions of the board include: setting standards for and granting endorsement for official events, activities and products; coordinating publicity and fundraising; and managing finances, using Mesa Verde Museum Association as a "pass through".
Members: 4 park employees, Executive Director of the Mesa Verde Museum Association (MVMA), General Manager of ARAMARK, and community and tribal members.

Action Groups
Action Groups are formed to develop and implement centennial events, activities, forums, projects, displays, etc. These groups are formed by community members and are supported by the Birthday Board. For a project developed by the Action Group to be endorsed by the Birthday Board it must meet the following success criteria:
- Celebrates Mesa Verde National Park
- Respects Tribal Heritage
- Involves communities: local, tribal, regional, national and international.
